DID YOU HEAR THAT? IT WAS SO CLEAR TODAY!
Thanks to our volunteer sound technician, Vince Plunkett, we also spent a little money on improving our sound. Now that we have cooled the air, we don’t want you “hot under the collar” because you can’t hear what’s being said on stage. Nearly $4000 has been spent on speakers, mikes and other tech equipment needed to improve our sound quality. The first phase happened before our summer Youth camp/In the Heights and the remainder was installed after the youth camps. We are looking forward to hearing the difference during our next production. Hope to see you all at Honk Jr., and Same Time, Next Year which open in Septembers. Auditions in July 23 & 24

HONEY – I THINK A COLD FRONT IS HEADED OUR WAY!
We recognize that over the years, coming to PH1960 in the summer meant wearing comfortable clothes and being prepared to be a bit warm. Thanks to the wonderful support of our patrons, actors and their families over the past two years, we have been able to fund what we hope are significant improvements.
Stage 1 was completed this spring with the installation of an additional HVAC unit placed in the warehouse section of the building. This area has never been cooled before. By cooling this area, we are able to lessen the strain on the four units that serve the auditorium. We spent over $6000 on the unit itself and about $4400 on additional electrical work which included service to the new unit, repairing/replacing all light fixtures throughout our building, additional lighting outside our entrance and electrical service from our meter on Cutten Rd to our new signage.
Stage 2 is under construction now, estimated cost of around $5000. With strong proceeds from the final Youth production and our summer camps we have taken another giant step. All of our A/C units are being completely overhauled. All the duct work for the 4 units are also being revamped. The new ductwork will bring the discharge vents out over the audience seating towards the center of the theater. This will create a much better return flow as the cold air drops into the audience and then travels to the outside walls.
Stage 3 – repairing the theater walls, estimated cost of $2000. When the HVAC team is finished with the professional side of the work, we need help to get in the theater back in shape. We will repair all the holes in the walls where the old ducts discharged with sheetrock patches, taping and floating, then repainting the entire theater. We also want to paint the new ductwork a flat black so it disappears and we don’t notice the shiny metallic ductwork. WILL YOU HELP? We will be doing the work in the evenings and on weekends. Any time you can volunteer will be appreciated. We are bringing in scaffolding to assist in reaching the high parts. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you with the date and times when we get a better idea from the HVAC team on the completion date.
